Program Overview:

All about this course

This course will provide an overview of what we currently know about COVID-19, including who is more at danger, the lockdown procedures in place in the UK, and what the “new normal” is. The global pandemic caused by COVID-19, often known as the coronavirus, has had an impact on practically everyone’s way of life as of 2020. Our workshop outlines COVID-19, infection prevention techniques, and how personnel should take extra precautions while returning to work to lower risks.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 90% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

Module Overview:

Units covered

  • Unit 1 – Introduction to COVID – 19 – This unit is designed to provide an introduction to COVID-19, where it is believed to have originated from and the impact it has had so far globally. There will be some current statistics to show where the pandemic has been felt most severely including rates of infection, recovery and death.

  • Unit 2 – Identifying and Assessing Risks – In this unit you will look at the importance of effective risk assessment with regard to COVID-19 and consider ways of preventing the spread of the virus. It will consider what some of the main risk factors are for developing COVID-19 and give some examples of why risk assessment evaluations are needed and how a risk assessment can take place.

  • Unit 3 – Symptoms of COVID-19 – This unit will look at the different symptoms experienced from the virus and what the risk categories are for different groups of individuals. The unit also considers what measures need to be carried out when someone has been identified as having COVID-19 or they believe that they have its symptoms.

  • Unit 4 – Preventing the spread of COVID-19 – In this unit you will look at possible ways of minimising and preventing the spread of COVID-19. It starts with an exploration of social distancing and self-isolation and why these are important before looking in more detail at specific ways of preventing the spread of the virus both in workplaces and for the general public. PPE, hand washing, personal hygiene and effective cleaning will be covered in detail.

  • Unit 5 – Working From Home and In The Workplace –This unit will look at safe measures when working from home and in the workplace. It must be kept in mind that the information that is being given to employers is being amended and updated all the time and so some details may be subject to change.

  • Unit 6 – The New Normal – In the final unit you will look at the impact the virus has had, so far, on society in general and consider the ‘new normal’ that all of us will need to face. It will give information about ‘flattening the curve’ and how this relates to COVID-19’s R number. There will be information about lifting restrictions and about the latest statistics concerning infection and death rates, all of which is subject to continual amendment.
